WiFi Pineapple
Introducing the WiFi Pineapple Mark IV
Introduced with a sneak preview device at Shmoocon 2012, the WiFi Pineapple Mark IV is a huge leap forward for the fruitful WiFi-focused penetration testing platform. We expect the Mark IV to go on sale in the second half of February 2012 so please use the notify me link to receive updates about availability, and stay tuned to this page and the forums for more updates.
The Mark IV is a new hardware platform based on a beginning-of-life chipset. It runs the recently released Jasager suite which is under heavy development and will continue to be backwards compatible with the Mark III. Obvious hardware differences will prevent some features from being available on older hardware but all compatible features will be available on the Mark III firmware for the foreseeable future.
The Mark IV contains the Atheros AR9331 SoC, two Ethernet ports, 802.11 b/g/n and USB. The clockspeed is a little over double that of the AP51 -- 180 to 400 MHz MIPS. We expect the dual Ethernet to allow us to implement "The Interceptor" aka "Network Monkey" (layer-2 bridge capture / rebroadcast). USB adds potential for a second WiFi radio (imagine an ALFA AWUS036H backpack), storage, GPS and 3G/4G. Also it's black, which adds 50 hacker points.

About: The WiFi Pineapple is a hot-spot honey-pot
Most wireless devices including laptops, tablets and smartphones have network software that automatically connects to access points they remember. This convenient feature is what gets you online without effort when you turn on your computer at home, the office, coffee shops or airports you frequent.
Simply put, when your computer turns on, the wireless radio sends out probe requests. These requests say “Is such-and-such wireless network around?” The WiFi Pineapple Mark IV, powered by Jasager -- German for “The Yes Man” -- replies to these requests to say “Sure, I’m such-and-such wireless access point – let’s get you online!”
And with the newly improved Pineapple Mark IV web interface, gathering interesting packets, spoofing DNS, watching web traffic and more is just a click away.
